Senior Solutions Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design of architectures for innovative products, digital platforms, and the modernization of legacy systems.

• Convert business requirements into scalable, secure, resilient, and sustainable technical solutions.

• Utilize the C4 model to model systems and architectures, encompassing context, containers, components, and, when necessary, code-level specifics.

• Establish architectural standards for microservices, integrations, APIs, messaging, and inter-system communications.

• Design cloud-native solutions with a focus on high availability, elasticity, security, observability, and cost efficiency.

• Facilitate the advancement of distributed, event-driven, and reactive system architectures.

• Serve as a liaison between business sectors, Product, and development teams, ensuring alignment among strategy, architecture, and implementation.

• Mentor engineering teams in embracing technical best practices and architectural patterns.

• Assist in technology, framework, platform, integration, and cloud service-related decisions.

• Evaluate technical impacts, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and opportunities for improvement.

• Engage in technical discussions, refinements, solution exploration, and initiative planning.

• Oversee the governance of APIs, integrations, microservices, and security frameworks.

• Contribute to strategies for observability, monitoring, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.

• Ensure that proposed solutions align with business goals and the organization’s technical standards.

• Define architectures that are scalable, resilient, secure, and prepared for future development.

• Provide technical leadership for architectural initiatives from inception to implementation follow-up.

• Advocate for best practices in distributed architecture, microservices, integration, security, and cloud-native development.

• Set guidelines for API, messaging, event, observability, and cloud platform utilization.

• Assist in modernizing legacy systems by proposing evolutionary and sustainable strategies.

• Ensure clear communication of architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Act as a technical resource for backend development, infrastructure, security, and product teams.

• Assess and document technical trade-offs, taking into account timelines, costs, complexity, risks, and business value.

• Contribute to the standardization and evolution of enterprise architecture.

• Share technical knowledge, best practices, and architectural patterns across teams.

• Aid in identifying and mitigating technical risks, bottlenecks, architectural debt, and scalability challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Solutions Architect, Software Architect, Tech Lead, or in a comparable role.

• Proven experience in designing distributed architectures and microservices ecosystems.

• Advanced understanding of architectural patterns, system integration, and application modernization.

• Experience in tackling challenges related to eventual consistency, resilience, concurrency, scalability, and fault tolerance.

• Familiarity with event-driven architecture, messaging, and Pub/Sub patterns.

• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or similar streaming and messaging technologies.

• Comprehension of reactive systems principles and resilient architectures.

• Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.

• Solid expertise with Kubernetes, including clusters, pods, services, ingress, networking, scalability, and workload management.

• Experience with containers and cloud-native architectures.

• Knowledge of the API lifecycle, including design, versioning, security, publishing, monitoring, and governance.

• Proficiency with REST APIs, gRPC, and/or GraphQL.

• Familiarity with API Gateway or API Management tools like Kong, Apigee, WSO2, or similar.

• Practical knowledge of security aspects applied to architecture, including IAM, authentication, authorization, and access segregation.

• Experience with protocols and standards such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, and mTLS.

• Expertise in designing observability strategies based on metrics, logs, and distributed tracing.

• Familiarity with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, Datadog, or similar.

• Relevant hands-on experience in backend development with a track record of delivering applications to production.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Go, C#, Python, or similar.

• Ability to create technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and decision records.

• Strong communication, systems thinking, critical thinking, and technical decision-making skills.

• Preferred / Nice-to-have:

• Experience in high-availability, high-transaction-volume, or mission-critical environments.

• Experience in modernizing monoliths to microservices or event-driven architectures.

• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, Event Storming, or complex domain modeling.

• Familiarity with hexagonal architecture, clean architecture, or similar patterns.

• Understanding of platform engineering, internal developer platforms, or platform practices.

• Experience with FinOps and cost optimization in cloud environments.

• Knowledge of DevSecOps and integrating security within the development lifecycle.

• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure automation.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar.

• Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, or similar.

• Understanding of relational databases, NoSQL, distributed caching, and persistence strategies.

• Experience with data architecture, event streaming, and integration with analytics pipelines.

• Certifications in cloud technologies, architecture, Kubernetes, or security.

• Experience in technical governance, architecture committees, or establishing corporate standards.
