Pay that a yearly figure hides

For employers

The transparency gap

Most remote listings still do not say what they pay. Here is how that differs by market, and what the listings that do state pay look like.

46%of remote listings state pay

131,360 of the 288,338 listings published on Remotery since March 2026 say what they pay. Where they do, 88% give a range rather than one figure, and the typical range tops out 32% above its floor: a $89k floor is advertised as $89k to $117k.

A stated range is what makes a listing comparable on this page, on the salary filter, and in the fit score every signed-in reader sees. A listing without one is compared to nothing.

Method

How every number here was made

Short enough to check. Every figure on this page follows these rules, and so does every salary figure on the job pages.

Source
Remote job listings published on Remotery, 288,338 of them between March 21, 2026 and September 5, 2026, including listings that have since closed. Nothing is surveyed, self-reported, or estimated from job titles.
What counts as a salary
The floor of the range the employer stated, so every figure is a typical starting salary, not a midpoint or a ceiling. 131,360 listings state one. A listing with no pay is left out of every average and counted only in the share that state pay.
Currency and period
Every salary is converted to US dollars a year: hourly pay times 2,080 hours, monthly times 12, other currencies at a fixed exchange table held constant across the report so that a change in a figure is a change in pay, not in the exchange rate. Hourly roles are also shown in their own unit.
Medians, not averages
Every headline figure is a median: the salary in the middle of the sample. The middle half is the 25th to 75th percentile. Averages are not shown, because a few very high listings pull an average up without changing what a typical listing offers.
Outliers
Stated salaries under $3,000 or over $500,000 a year are excluded as placeholders or currency errors ($0 minimums, amounts stamped in the wrong currency). They are about one percent of stated salaries.
Sample floors
A role, a country or a US state needs at least 30 stated salaries to appear; a role's seniority level needs 10; a month needs 500. Below those a median is one or two employers' opinion. A listing tagged with two seniority levels counts once in each.
Freshness
The report is recomputed from the database at most an hour after any listing is published, so every figure is the current state of the whole record, and the sample only grows.
