This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.
• Take ownership of and actively manage a defined pipeline of payer opportunities, ensuring accountability for progress, outcomes, and timelines.
• Initiate, cultivate, and enhance relationships with designated payer accounts.
• Identify opportunities to further discussions related to pilots, data evaluations, and access-enabling initiatives.
• Lead meetings with payers from initial outreach to follow-up execution.
• Convert payer interest into pilots, collaborations, or agreements in conjunction with the Senior Director of Payer Engagement.
• Navigate through complex payer organizations and engage with key clinical, economic, and decision-making stakeholders.
• Proactively identify payer needs, objections, and decision criteria at early stages.
• Collaborate with Market Access, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Government Affairs, and clinical development teams.
• Prepare and present compliant materials for payers that convey clinical and economic value.
• Maintain thorough documentation of the pipeline, including payer interactions, progress, risks, and next steps.
• Represent the company professionally in all payer interactions.
• Report directly to the Senior Director of Payer Engagement.
• Influence payer perception and encourage adoption of GRAIL’s early cancer detection products.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in payer engagement, market access, managed care, or healthcare account leadership is essential.
• A proven history of successfully concluding payer negotiations that resulted in significant, expanded insurance coverage.
• This role will encompass markets and institutions throughout the U.S.
• Candidates must be willing to travel at least 30%-40% of the time.
• Strong understanding of U.S. payer decision-making, medical policy, reimbursement, and access pathways is necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and maintain momentum across multiple active opportunities.
• Comfort with ambiguity and experience in growth-stage or evolving commercial environments are required.
• Excellent communication skills, executive presence, and stakeholder management capabilities are essential.
• Experience in biotech, diagnostics, pharma, or healthcare technology is preferred.
• Familiarity with payer pilots, value-based arrangements, or evidence-generation collaborations is advantageous.
• Knowledge of HEOR, real-world evidence, and clinical development processes is beneficial.
• Work hours and days may vary based on operational needs.
• The ability to stand or sit for extended periods may be necessary.
• Some lifting (up to 25 pounds) may be required.
