Linguist – Samoan

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Convert content between English and Samoan, ensuring cultural nuances and clarity are maintained.

• Review and enhance language content for precision, tone, and contextual appropriateness across digital platforms.

• Implement current language standards, usage trends, and best practices.

• Assess and offer structured feedback to elevate the quality of language models.

• Work collaboratively with Production and cross-functional teams to adapt content for Samoan-speaking audiences.

• Assist in the development, localization, and quality assurance of digital tools and applications.

• Creatively modify source texts beyond mere translation when transcreation is necessary.

• Perform domain-specific testing when needed.

• Complete onboarding processes, including filling out an application form and setting up payment arrangements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Samoan/target language(s) at a native level.

• A graduate degree in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR a graduate degree in another field along with 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.

• Capability to follow terminology and reference materials accurately.

• Dependable availability and commitment to tasks.

• Deliver high-quality work on time after accepting assignments.

• An updated CV/resume in English.

• Must reside in an eligible location: Australia, New Zealand, USA, or Samoa.

• Geographic restrictions may apply; contractors cannot operate in regions under international embargoes or sanctions.

• Contractors are responsible for managing their own tax obligations.
