American Sign Language Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Deliver onsite, unclassified ASL/English receptive and expressive simultaneous interpretation in various environments, both independently and as part of a team.

• Accurately convey the thoughts, intentions, and essence of speakers to individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

• Interpret and transliterate expressively and receptively using both manual and oral communication techniques.

• Uphold the confidentiality of information exchanged during interpreting scenarios.

• Communicate effectively through signing, verbal speech, and written formats.

• Maintain comprehensive and precise records.

• Adhere to schedules and deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient and precise voicing abilities for spoken English–ASL and ASL–spoken English interpretation.

• Understanding of the terminology and stipulations outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

• Competence across a wide range of general interpreting tasks.

• General familiarity with specialized vocabulary, including medical terms, supply chain management language, and business terminology.

• Possession of at least one mandatory certification: National Interpreter Certification (NIC), Certificate of Interpretation (CI), or Certificate of Transliteration (CT).

• Capability to communicate efficiently by signing, verbally, and in writing.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Skill in keeping accurate records and meeting deadlines.
