Wire Editor – Design Centers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Creates high-quality content in collaboration with various USA Today Network newspapers

• Crafts sophisticated headlines and other display elements for assigned content

• Adjusts stories to fit the specified space

• Chooses suitable wire content and incorporates it into templates as required

• Employs the CUE system best-practice workflow to prevent story duplications

• Proofreads display elements and monitors jumps, rectifying spelling, grammar, and other inaccuracies

• Proposes enhancements for unclear concepts

• Edits display content to adhere to Network style

• Offers daily guidance to other Page Editors/Wire Editors as necessary

• Transitions between page editing and wire editing roles as required

• Provides mentorship and coaching to colleagues

• Executes other tasks as required and assigned

• Must possess the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, especially under tight deadlines

• Must clearly and accurately communicate ideas in headlines and other display content

• Must organize and package various elements, address production challenges, and communicate effectively to meet deadlines

• Must be capable of independently resolving any concerns and making decisions regarding stories

• Must be able to assess the news value of stories, including utilizing market information provided by individual newsrooms

• All prospective candidates will undergo an editing test
