This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Contribute creative editorial concepts during the project planning phase.
• Conduct research, write, and edit manuscripts with minimal supervision.
• Review and edit all stages of product pages.
• Align state objectives with relevant core-program content.
• Implement state objectives and testing blueprints in evaluating content and vendor work.
• Adhere to established procedures and company policies.
• Ensure all assignments comply with project specifications and deadlines.
• Communicate feedback and performance updates with the supervisor.
• Refer any decisions impacting the budget or schedule to the supervisor while making recommendations.
• Provide precise updates on assignment status.
• Monitor reading levels, content accuracy and relevance, bias-free content, and teachability.
• Write art specifications for artists, topographers, and photo researchers.
• Evaluate sketches and art proofs, assisting in photo selection.
• Assist in overseeing external developers.
• Engage in project planning and contribute creative ideas based on market and customer needs.
• Aid in the development of innovative K-12 digital and print instructional materials.
• At least 5 years of experience in curriculum development or creating instructional materials for social studies, with some experience in K-5 curriculum development.
• Project management experience is preferred.
• Teaching experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of educational methodologies and instructional design specifically in social studies.
• Familiarity with English language arts and early literacy is strongly preferred.
• A graduate or undergraduate degree with a major or minor in history, economics, English, education, anthropology, ethnic studies, geography, second language acquisition, or related fields.
• Awareness of contemporary youth, popular culture, and factors influencing youth learning motivation.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google equivalents.
• Understanding of differentiation strategies, scaffolding for MLL students, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient in editing, grammar, and style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style.
• Knowledge of the production processes for print and digital instructional materials.
• Ability to write, edit, and revise content to meet accuracy, style, grade-level, and market need standards.
• Capacity to translate knowledge of English language arts and literacy into social studies content.
• Proficient in prioritizing, multitasking, meeting deadlines, and maintaining quality.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with minimal supervision, and effectively navigate ambiguity.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
• Attention to detail while understanding broader project goals.
• Confidence to engage in meetings and open discussions.
• Willingness to foster teamwork, reduce barriers and conflicts, volunteer for new initiatives, and follow through on commitments.
