This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Ensure the overall editorial quality of medical communications content regarding accuracy, clarity, consistency, grammar, and style.
• Conduct fact-checking, substantive editing, and proofreading of medical communications materials, including slide presentations, meeting materials, video scripts, flashcards, and websites.
• Review layouts and digital programming against manuscript drafts and client-approved files.
• Verify the incorporation of changes into layout documents and programmed digital files.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of reference lists.
• Assess and communicate copyright permission requirements; secure permissions and relay costs to Account Services.
• Prepare and submit materials through the Veeva Vault system.
• Act as a subject-matter expert on client and AMA style, grammar, usage, and agency standards.
• Develop, maintain, and adhere to project-, product-, and client-specific style guides.
• Collaborate with Editorial Services, Medical Services, and Creative Services teams.
• Support colleagues with editorial problem-solving, troubleshooting, and brainstorming efforts.
• Participate in product status meetings.
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in science or English).
• 3-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical editing.
• Preferred: 2 years of experience specifically as an editor for a medical communications agency or a pharmaceutical company marketing department.
• Familiarity with agency workflow processes.
• Knowledge of electronic document review systems.
• Ability to manage and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and capability to work under tight deadlines.
• Understanding of general scientific concepts and ability to comprehend more complex scientific applications.
• Excellent command of grammar and usage, medical writing style guidelines (AMA Manual of Style), and promotional activity regulations and specifications.
• Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
• Working knowledge of Veeva Vault is preferred; training will be provided.
• Familiarity with the permissions process is preferred; training will be provided.
• High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
• Well-developed professional communication skills, both written and interpersonal.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Capacity to master various content management systems.
• Desire to achieve professional goals and acquire new skills.
• Willingness to commit to extra hours and/or nontraditional hours as client needs dictate.
