Web Application Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the creation, enhancement, and upkeep of public-facing web applications that support The National Map.

• Enhance functionality within current codebases.

• Design visually appealing web interfaces.

• Improve the presentation of geospatial data.

• Facilitate the processing and delivery of geospatial information through automated scripts.

• Document development processes, technical decisions, and modifications through written documentation, code annotations, and assignment tickets.

• Simplify access to, exploration of, and understanding of USGS geospatial data.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related discipline with over 5 years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated experience in developing, enhancing, and maintaining responsive, user-centric web applications and interfaces utilizing JavaScript, React, and contemporary JavaScript libraries.

• Capability to document development workflows and technical choices through written documentation, code annotations, assignment tickets, or similar means.

• Strong teamwork and initiative, with the ability to effectively collaborate as part of a team, own assigned tasks, and proactively seek opportunities to enhance applications and development procedures.

• Familiarity with Python scripting for geospatial data processing.

• Proficient in modern web development technologies such as Node.js, Vite, Next.js, Typescript, or similar frameworks.

• Experience in developing web mapping applications using ArcGIS JavaScript API or similar geospatial mapping technologies.

• Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
