Senior Manager, Equipment Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical engineering solutions and capital projects from their inception to final completion.

• Generate concepts, create designs and technical solutions, estimate expenses, develop business justifications, coordinate installations, resolve start-up issues, educate personnel on new technologies, and support the long-term strategy for technology master planning.

• Work in collaboration with R&D, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Manufacturing, and Engineering departments to establish equipment standards, standardize processes, enhance technical solutions, and create new processes and packaging solutions.

• Direct the definition and selection of process equipment while advocating for engineering best practices.

• Evaluate the effects of new equipment or changes on current operations.

• Utilize Technical Readiness and Stage-Gate methodologies to create new processes and products.

• Comprehend machine and process control architectures and components, including PLCs, HMIs, switches, and associated systems.

• Design processes and equipment adhering to Factory 4.0/Smart Factory principles.

• Engage in business category, R&D, and Engineering project evaluations.

• Convey project status and critical updates to operational and business leaders through meetings, plant reviews, and business and operational forums.

• Adhere to capital project protocols and Rich's guidelines and directives.

• Act as the company's representative when collaborating with contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.

• Offer technical training and support to other departments.

• Manage engineering initiatives across the Toppings, Creams and Culinary Solutions (TCCS) category.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred).

• More than 15 years of experience in food, dairy, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing sectors.

• Proven experience in leading the selection, design, specification, and/or development of new technology platforms and modifications to manufacturing assets.

• Experience in overseeing front-end engineering activities and projects across a complex manufacturing network.

• Direct experience with liquid processing systems.

• Strong analytical skills and excellent communication abilities.

• Capability to draw accurate technical conclusions from limited data and produce concise technical and business recommendation reports.

• Demonstrated business insight and the ability to formulate business cases and influence stakeholders.

• Experience in leading and influencing global cross-functional teams across multiple manufacturing sites.

• Familiarity with Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies.

• Experience in capital project management, including project scheduling, cost estimation, FMEA, and statistical process analysis.

• Proven success in implementing process and packaging technologies through Vertical Start-Ups.

• Proficiency in computer applications and AutoCAD/3D CAD software.

• Experience in developing junior team members through technical guidance, mentoring, and providing professional growth opportunities.

• Preferred: MBA, MS in Engineering, or a related advanced degree.

• Preferred: Knowledge of dairy production and pasteurization, liquid filling, cooling, freezing, and packaging technologies.

• Preferred: Experience in international and global markets.

• Preferred: Design and implementation of greenfield manufacturing facilities.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Reliability Engineering tools and process improvement methodologies.
