This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands, +1 more country.
• Oversee the Product & Engineering organization for Coda and FP&A from start to finish, including team management, architecture, delivery, and roadmap.
• Report directly to the General Manager of Coda & FP&A.
• Collaborate with the General Manager to define and implement the long-term business strategy.
• Convert business priorities into actionable product, technology, and investment plans.
• Establish engineering strategy and technical direction for the Coda and FP&A codebases, primarily using Java, C, and TypeScript.
• Drive platform modernization while ensuring service stability and maintaining customer confidence.
• Formulate product strategy and roadmap based on customer insights, market opportunities, and commercial objectives.
• Champion strategic customer relationships, key opportunities, and critical business escalations.
• Work in partnership with Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Finance on customer and commercial results.
• Direct portfolio investment decisions across customer requirements, commercial potential, innovation, modernization, resilience, and technical debt.
• Enhance delivery speed and agility while ensuring enterprise-level reliability.
• Lead, mentor, and foster the development of product and engineering teams comprising around 70 individuals.
• Fortify management layers, hiring strategies, and career progression paths.
• Construct succession and talent plans while developing scalable organizational structures and operational models.
• Define and advocate for an AI strategy within the product and engineering department.
• Ensure operational excellence in areas like uptime, security, performance, and quality.
• Establish sprint cadence, DORA metrics, quality gates, and OKRs.
• Utilize customer, product, engineering, and operational data to guide priorities and investment choices.
• Provide transparent reporting on portfolio performance, delivery, platform health, and associated risks.
• Represent Coda and FP&A in company-wide discussions on product and technical leadership as well as in Unit4 executive forums.
• Engage with key customers regarding product and architectural matters and escalations.
• Over 10 years of experience in engineering leadership roles.
• At least 5 years of experience managing engineering managers or multiple teams.
• Demonstrated capability in owning both product and engineering aspects.
• Experience in guiding a complex, global Product & Engineering organization through periods of growth, modernization, and organizational change is strongly preferred.
• Required hands-on experience with financial applications.
• Startup experience, or equivalent agility and speed within a larger organization.
• Strong practical proficiency in Java, C, and TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
• Adeptness in making and justifying architecture and technical trade-off decisions.
• Experience in balancing technical debt and maintenance with innovation while safeguarding platform stability.
• Proven hands-on experience applying AI to software engineering at a team scale with measurable results.
• Well-informed perspective on how AI will transform engineering and product development.
• Strong product instincts, with the ability to translate customer and market signals into a roadmap aligned with growth and revenue.
• Ability to connect product and technology strategies to measurable customer, commercial, and business outcomes.
• Focus on enterprise customers, including direct interactions with major accounts, escalations, and advisory contributions.
• Proven leadership skills in hiring, developing, and retaining product and engineering talent.
• Experience in building and coaching leadership teams, enhancing succession planning, and creating scalable operating models.
• Excellent communication abilities across technical, business, customer, and commercial audiences.
• Capability to provide executive recommendations, articulate trade-offs, and influence effectively.
• Background checks/security clearance may be necessary for customer projects and access to sensitive customer data.
