This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of storefronts, checkout processes, payments, the merchant operating system, and the AI agent, encompassing roadmap development, sequencing, specifications, quality assurance, and rollout.
• Set a higher benchmark for completed work based on merchant adoption, business impact, and production quality.
• Evaluate product excellence against competitors through metrics such as revenue per visitor, checkout conversion rates, page speed, approval rates, activation, retention, and overall user experience.
• Lead and mentor a small team of principal-level product managers.
• Establish standards for product requirement documents (PRDs), prototypes, specifications, test cases, launches, reference merchants, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Maintain direct relationships with key merchants through communication channels and weekly calls.
• Transform recurring merchant challenges into implemented solutions.
• Define quality benchmarks for the Phoenix AI agent and conduct tests to ensure it supports production-grade revenue decisions.
• Collaborate with the CTO and engineering leaders on delivery timelines, visibility into delays, and the efficient allocation of engineering resources.
• Keep abreast of competitive intelligence regarding products, pricing, and roadmaps; generate response memos within 48 hours of significant competitor announcements.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO regarding future company initiatives.
• Provide actionable feedback to product managers and engineers and address performance issues.
• Proven experience as the primary or secondary product leader in a growth-stage organization.
• Managed a product surface where conversion rates, latency, and reliability had direct economic implications.
• Demonstrated measurable success in advancing a product from lagging behind competitors to leading the market.
• Technical proficiency: ability to read pull requests, comprehend gateway migrations and database locking, and engage in architectural discussions.
• Proficient user of contemporary AI tools; experience in deploying AI in production with an understanding of determinism and evaluations.
• Background in developing products for customers whose revenue is reliant on the product, such as within fintech, payments, commerce, or related fields.
• History of thriving in fast-paced, resource-limited, high-stress environments in the past five years.
• Experience with e-commerce, direct response, or high-risk payments is advantageous.
• Previous experience running a direct-to-consumer (DTC) or direct response store is beneficial.
• Capability to write code or create functional prototypes using AI tools is a plus.
• Experience in launching an AI agent or a feature powered by a large language model (LLM) utilized by customers in production is a plus.
• Background in founding a company or serving as an early-stage operator is a plus.
