This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Shape and expand the technical go-to-market organization at Versa.
• Lead and nurture a team of around 75 Sales Engineers through regional leaders across North America, Federal, EMEA, LATAM, and APAC.
• Establish the Sales Engineering operating model, encompassing SE-to-AE alignment and overlay specialists.
• Recruit, retain, and develop technical talent; create succession plans and career pathways.
• Manage the Sales Engineering budget, headcount strategy, and capacity planning.
• Drive technical success in strategic and complex enterprise and Service Provider opportunities.
• Act as Versa’s senior technical representative, engaging CIOs, CISOs, and Service Provider CTOs.
• Set benchmarks for discovery, solution design, demonstrations, proofs of concept, and RFP submissions.
• Administer a structured proof-of-concept process with well-defined success metrics.
• Collaborate with Sales leadership on forecast accuracy, deal evaluations, and pipeline assessments.
• Empower Service Provider and channel partner technical teams to design, sell, and deliver Versa services.
• Assist partners in the development and launch of managed SASE and SD-WAN offerings.
• Deliver customer, competitive, and roadmap insights to Product Management and Engineering teams.
• Maintain competitive intelligence and positioning against SASE, SSE, and SD-WAN rivals.
• Represent Versa at industry conferences, analyst meetings, and executive customer discussions.
• Conduct technical enablement and certification programs for SEs, sellers, and partners.
• Oversee demo environments, lab infrastructure, reference architectures, and reusable solution assets.
• Leverage data and AI tools to enhance SE productivity, deal insights, and win-rate evaluations.
• 15+ years of experience in networking or security pre-sales.
• 7+ years of experience leading Sales Engineering teams.
• 3+ years of experience managing leaders across multiple regions.
• Demonstrated success in increasing technical win rates and ARR within a high-growth enterprise networking, SASE, or security vendor environment.
• Extensive knowledge of SD-WAN, SASE/SSE, ZTNA, SWG, CASB, FWaaS, routing, cloud networking, and zero trust architectures.
• Significant experience selling to and through Service Providers and large multinational enterprises.
• Strong executive presence when interacting with C-level executives, analysts, and leadership teams.
• Commercial acumen that balances technical expertise with deal strategy, pricing considerations, and customer value.
• Willingness to travel internationally, approximately 40–50% of the time.
• Experience in US Federal or public sector pursuits is a plus.
• Eligibility for security clearance, where applicable, is desirable.
• Experience leading teams through a transition to a SASE platform or moving upmarket is advantageous.
• Industry certifications such as CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent are preferred.
• Familiarity with AI and automation in network and security operations is a plus.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is desirable.
• Must have authorization to work in the US.
