VP, Global Government Affairs – Strategic Policy

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement a detailed global government affairs strategy that aligns with corporate goals and growth objectives.

• Establish and nurture relationships with government officials, policymakers, regulators, trade associations, think tanks, and industry coalitions on a global scale.

• Act as the company's representative to legislative and executive branch officials regarding issues within the semiconductor ecosystem.

• Provide guidance to executive leadership and business units on new policy, geopolitical, and regulatory changes.

• Spearhead advocacy and policy involvement on export controls, sanctions, foreign investment assessments, technology transfer regulations, advanced computing controls, AI-related regulations, and national security policies.

• Collaborate with legal, compliance, business, communications, business development, and regional leadership teams.

• Evaluate geopolitical developments impacting semiconductor markets, technology competition, and global supply chains.

• Deliver actionable insights and strategic advice to senior leadership.

• Identify regulatory, political, and trade-related risks and opportunities to facilitate business planning.

• Oversee external messaging and advocacy efforts across various jurisdictions.

• Manage relationships with external consultants, lobbying firms, and engagements with industry associations.

• Create and enhance a high-performing global government affairs organization.

• Advise executive and business unit leaders on geopolitical, regulatory, trade, and public policy changes.

• Simplify complex policy and regulatory developments into business implications and actionable strategies.

• Ensure alignment of government affairs strategies with corporate objectives, market expansion initiatives, investment choices, and risk management priorities.

• Foster consensus among cross-functional executive teams and influence significant policy and regulatory decisions.

• Assist in executive interactions with government officials, industry leaders, customers, and strategic partners.

• Identify and reduce geopolitical and regulatory risks.

• Develop and implement coordinated global advocacy initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is required.

• An advanced degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science, Law, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Over 15 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, public policy, trade policy, or regulatory affairs.

• Significant experience in the semiconductor, technology, electronics, defense, or advanced manufacturing sectors.

• Proven expertise in export controls, sanctions, international trade policy, and national security-related regulations.

• Experience in engaging with senior government officials and policymakers across various jurisdictions.

• Demonstrated capability to influence complex policy outcomes and manage high-stakes regulatory challenges.

• Familiarity with U.S. Department of Commerce export control frameworks, including EAR regulations, is preferred.

• Knowledge of global semiconductor policy initiatives and industrial strategies is preferred.

• Experience in multinational organizations with global responsibilities is preferred.

• Previous government service, congressional experience, leadership in trade associations, or regulatory agency experience is preferred.

• Understanding of semiconductor technology, manufacturing, supply chains, and advanced computing ecosystems is preferred.

• Strong awareness of geopolitical issues.

• Exceptional executive presence and communication abilities.

• Capability to navigate complex and sensitive policy environments.

• Strong skills in relationship-building and coalition development.

• Sound judgment in highly visible and politically sensitive contexts.

• Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and rapid change.
