VP – Energy Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement Aligned’s comprehensive global energy strategy.

• Collaborate with utilities and clients to pinpoint strategically advantageous, stable demand opportunities.

• Promote public policy initiatives that foster load growth in primary markets.

• Work alongside customers to create and carry out procurement strategies.

• Negotiate agreements for commodities trading, such as ISDAs and EEIs.

• Assess and execute long-term physical, financial, and renewable product agreements, including PPAs, VPPAs, and RECs.

• Design and negotiate electrical supply contracts and incentives with utilities.

• Lead economic assessments of cogeneration projects utilizing natural gas or alternative technologies.

• Enhance the economic feasibility and strategy of alternative energy solutions, including SMRs, hydrogen, multi-hour battery storage, and onsite diesel alternatives.

• Contribute to Aligned’s sustainability initiatives.

• Collaborate with the Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, Commercial/Sales, Strategy & Development, CTO, Platform Delivery, ESG, Legal, and Finance/Accounting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in the utility sector.

• Background in commodities trading or related support roles in Risk, FP&A, Accounting, or Scheduling.

• Familiarity with ICE, CME, NYMEX, and/or NGX exchanges and/or bilateral trading through ISDAs, EEIs, etc.

• Engineering experience with hands-on operational experience with generation assets, including coal, combined cycle gas, nuclear, wind, or solar.

• Educational background in Engineering, Finance, or Accounting, with exceptions made for individuals possessing over 5 years of experience in the energy sector.
