This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Define and expand Submer’s range of modular and traditional data-center solutions for AI factories.
• Convert market demand, AI workload specifications, customer requirements, and technology trends into unique, commercially viable, and deployable data-center platforms.
• Establish a global product and platform strategy for modular, prefabricated, hybrid, and traditional site-built solutions.
• Create a portfolio architecture that balances standardized building blocks with custom configurability for clients.
• Develop solution roadmaps that encompass AI-ready whitespace, power systems, cooling plants, liquid cooling, controls, network/IT integration, deployment services, and lifecycle offerings.
• Identify key market segments and translate inputs from customers, market trends, regulations, technologies, and competitors into product specifications and investment priorities.
• Define platform differentiation focusing on deployment speed, capacity density, energy efficiency, water usage, resilience, scalability, operability, and lifecycle economics.
• Lead the development of repeatable reference architectures for AI factories, from campus and facility design through modular deployment units and integrated infrastructure systems.
• Collaborate with engineering to establish product requirements, technical specifications, performance thresholds, validation plans, and acceptance criteria.
• Guide trade-offs between standardized platforms and custom designs, ensuring manufacturability, margin protection, delivery assurance, and scalability.
• Create strategies for modularity, documentation for solutions, design rules, configuration tools, and reference designs.
• Manage pricing architecture, configuration logic, target margins, cost-to-serve assumptions, and value-based positioning.
• Develop business cases for platform investments, product variations, strategic partnerships, manufacturing capacity, and geographic expansion.
• Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Operations on pricing tools, quote governance, deal reviews, and profitability guidelines.
• Identify lifecycle revenue opportunities including commissioning, operational support, maintenance, retrofitting, capacity expansion, spare parts, warranty, and service agreements.
• Analyze competitor offerings, customer purchasing criteria, market pricing, and total cost of ownership models.
• Provide support for strategic pursuits and executive customer interactions.
• Partner with Global Delivery, Construction, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality leaders to ensure safe, predictable, and profitable delivery.
• Convert product roadmaps into industrialization plans, covering make-versus-buy decisions, supplier management, factory capacity, quality controls, and lead-time reductions.
• Establish delivery-ready standards for design release, procurement, factory acceptance testing, shipping, site integration, commissioning, and handover.
• Lead post-project evaluations and integrate lessons learned into future platform releases.
• Drive initiatives for product simplification and design-to-cost strategies.
• Support regional adaptations for grid conditions, codes, permitting, climate, seismic considerations, water availability, and local content requirements.
• Build and lead a global team encompassing product management, strategy, solutions architecture, commercial analysis, and platform operations.
• Establish governance for the portfolio, stage-gate processes, roadmap reviews, design authority, investment prioritization, and product lifecycle management.
• Align stakeholders across Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Construction, Finance, Legal, Service, and regional business teams.
• Present platform strategy, investment recommendations, performance metrics, and business risks to senior leadership and executive clients.
• Deliver a distinctive and financially compelling AI-factory platform roadmap, enhancing standardization and improving quote, design, deployment, manufacturing, commissioning, margins, lifecycle revenue, pricing discipline, and AI/liquid-cooling readiness.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, business, or a related technical field.
• An advanced degree or MBA is preferred.
• Over 12 years of progressive leadership experience in data centers, critical infrastructure, power and cooling systems, modular construction, industrialized products, cloud infrastructure, AI platforms, mission-critical facilities, or related sectors.
• Proven experience in bringing complex infrastructure products or solutions from market definition through engineering, commercialization, and global deployment.
• Strong understanding of data-center infrastructure, including electrical distribution, backup power, cooling systems, liquid cooling, controls, commissioning, resiliency, and capacity planning.
• Experience in high-density computing, AI infrastructure, HPC, GPU deployments, or liquid-cooled data-center environments is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen, including expertise in product pricing, cost modeling, margin management, business case development, and portfolio prioritization.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams across product, engineering, operations, manufacturing, commercialization, solutions architecture, supply chain, and delivery.
• Capability to work effectively with executive clients, strategic partners, OEMs, contractors, consultants, and internal senior leaders.
• Proven success in scaling global product portfolios with annual revenues exceeding $100M.
• Willingness to travel internationally as necessary.
• Preferred experience with data-center OEMs, colocation providers, hyperscalers, cloud companies, modular infrastructure providers, EPCs, mission-critical engineering firms, or power/cooling equipment manufacturers.
• Experience with utility power strategies, generation technologies, and energy-storage solutions is preferred.
• Development of prefabricated or modular systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of EPC, mission-critical construction, and industrialized manufacturing models is preferred.
• Experience with global deployment across North America, EMEA, and APAC is preferred.
• Familiarity with large-scale campus development, utility interconnection, power procurement, on-site generation, energy storage, and sustainability strategies is preferred.
• Understanding of commercial models such as equipment sales, turnkey delivery, capacity-as-a-service, build-to-suit, leasing, and lifecycle services is preferred.
