Vice President – Collection & Processing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage the expansion and optimization of recycling systems.

• Direct the strategy and development of collection and processing initiatives to meet recycling targets set by regulations.

• Create and implement comprehensive collection and processing strategies for materials, including multi-year roadmaps and investment plans.

• Collaborate with Program Planning and Operations teams on regulatory targets, exemptions, source reduction initiatives, and PCR targets.

• Partner with MRFs, secondary processors, and compost facilities to identify best practices for sortation.

• Assess and implement primary and secondary processing solutions to enhance bale quality and support end-market strategies.

• Promote third-party investments in additional collection and sortation efforts.

• Assist in developing program plans and state implementation plans for materials.

• Support coordinated state actions, operating plans, budgets, and investments.

• Engage with recycling and materials trade associations, service providers, and other essential stakeholders.

• Develop materials intelligence and oversee waste characterization protocols.

• Create and manage budgets for collection and processing initiatives related to materials strategy.

• Facilitate collection and processing for reusable and refillable packaging.

• Supervise, manage, delegate tasks, and inspire a team of industry professionals.

• Establish annual goals, lead team meetings, provide guidance, ensure statements of work are established, and drive outcomes.

• Conduct performance reviews and handle other HR-related responsibilities.

• Comprehensive knowledge of recycling collection, processing, and waste characterization principles and procedures.

• Experience in implementing sortation enhancements and increasing collection through various channels.

• Proven track record in creating roadmaps, strategies, and operational plans to achieve long-term objectives.

• Strong understanding of Extended Producer Responsibility.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting complex data and deriving actionable insights.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance.

• Ability to build, develop, lead, and engage high-performing teams, including remote employees with direct or indirect reporting lines.

• Capability to thrive in a dynamic environment that demands rapid pace and flexibility.

• Ideally, possess an understanding of the startup characteristics of CAA.

• Advanced degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field.

• A minimum of 10+ years of operational experience in MRFs or recycling facilities.

• At least 3+ years of experience in team management.

• Must have or be eligible to obtain a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
