VP, Cost Management – Data Centers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee cost management and financial supervision for essential data center infrastructure projects.

• Create strategic cost plans, comprehensive estimates, feasibility studies, cost models, and budget scenarios.

• Evaluate costs associated with electrical, mechanical cooling, fire suppression, building envelope, and supporting infrastructure.

• Facilitate value engineering workshops and assess design, equipment, construction methods, and lifecycle cost alternatives.

• Implement cost management frameworks, tracking systems, and reporting protocols.

• Track budgets, cost trends, contingencies, change orders, payment applications, reconciliations, and variances.

• Collaborate with procurement teams regarding equipment pricing, delivery timelines, and vendor contract negotiations.

• Offer market intelligence and counsel clients on procurement, project phasing, schedule optimization, labor, materials, and regional cost variations.

• Act as the primary cost advisor for clients, project teams, design consultants, and construction managers.

• Deliver cost reports, forecasts, and recommendations to executive stakeholders.

• Mentor and lead cost managers, estimators, and analysts.

• Create standardized processes, estimating tools, and databases for data center costs.

• Assist in business development, client relationship management, and proposal preparation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, architecture, or a related discipline.

• 12+ years of experience in cost management/estimating, particularly focused on data center or mission-critical facilities.

• In-depth expertise in data center construction costs, including electrical systems, mechanical cooling systems, fire suppression, and building envelope standards.

• Proven track record managing costs for large-scale projects (with a capital value exceeding $100M) that involve complex MEP systems.

• Comprehensive understanding of Uptime Institute Tier classifications, TIA-942, and ASHRAE TC 9.9.

• Demonstrated proficiency in CostX, Bluebeam, RSMeans, or similar cost estimating software and tools.

• Strong financial acumen, encompassing budget formulation, cost forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting.

• Experience with design-build, construction management, and lump-sum delivery methods in data center settings.

• Exceptional analytical abilities and the capacity to present actionable insights.

• Excellent client relationship management and executive-level communication skills.

• Must have authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
