
VP, Corporate Counsel – Digital Payments, FinTech

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver legal assistance for the Bank's digital payment initiatives, partnerships with FinTech companies, credit card and prepaid card offerings, as well as other consumer and commercial banking products.
• Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial agreements, which include partnerships with FinTech firms, vendor contracts, cardholder agreements, processing agreements, marketing contracts, and technology agreements.
• Provide guidance to business stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters that influence payment products and services.
• Track and evaluate federal and state laws and regulations that affect banking, payments, consumer financial services, and financial technology sectors.
• Aid in product development efforts and conduct legal assessments of new or improved products and services.
• Work in collaboration with Compliance, Risk Management, Information Security, Operations, and Product teams to identify and reduce legal and regulatory risks.
• Assist in responding to regulatory examinations, audits, and oversight inquiries.
• Support corporate governance, manage contracts, handle regulatory issues, and oversee general banking operations.
• Perform legal research and create memoranda, presentations, and business guidance on intricate legal matters.
• This role does not include managerial responsibilities.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a recognized law school.
• Active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• 1-4 years of pertinent legal experience in a law firm, financial institution, FinTech company, regulatory agency, or a combination of these environments.
• Strong skills in legal research, drafting, analysis, and communication.
• Capability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional business teams.
• Sound judgment and a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• A collaborative team player.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Preferred: experience supporting financial institutions, payment companies, FinTech organizations, or consumer financial services sectors.
• Preferred: familiarity with credit cards, prepaid cards, debit cards, ACH, RTP, or other payment systems.
• Preferred: working knowledge of TILA, Regulation Z, EFTA, Regulation E, UDAAP, BSA/AML, CARD Act, CFPB guidance and regulations, Visa/Mastercard network rules, and state money transmission and consumer protection laws.
• Preferred: experience in reviewing technology, SaaS, data-sharing, or vendor agreements.
• Must be willing to travel to client offices, prospects, branches, and industry events as required.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
