Legislative Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Manage collaborative regulatory responses involving Policy and Government Affairs, Operations, Product, and Communications teams.

• Analyze legislation that affects gig economy participants, marketplaces, retailers, and consumers.

• Provide actionable legal advice to business partners to ensure compliant operations.

• Create and document legal frameworks and best practices for compliance.

• Cultivate relationships with external counsel, trade associations, and industry partners.

• Assist in cross-industry initiatives that influence the regulatory dialogue surrounding gig economy innovation.

• Develop and disseminate knowledge in emerging legal fields pertinent to Instacart’s business.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

• Over 3 years of legal practice experience.

• Proficient in synthesizing, analyzing, and delivering accurate legal counsel in response to legislative changes.

• Experience collaborating with legislative bodies, government agencies, or handling regulatory issues.

• Proven track record in supporting compliance initiatives and implementing legal frameworks.

• Strong understanding of legislative processes and the regulatory environment.

• Eligible locations are currently restricted to Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.

• Preferred experience in legislative or regulatory strategy.

• Familiarity with marketplace platform companies, gig economy platforms, or similarly regulated businesses is preferred.
