Legislative Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee collaborative regulatory responses involving Policy and Government Affairs, Operations, Product, and Communications teams.

• Analyze legislation that affects gig economy participants, marketplaces, retailers, and consumers.

• Provide actionable legal advice to business partners to ensure compliant operations.

• Create and document legal frameworks and compliance best practices in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain relationships with external legal counsel, trade associations, and industry partners.

• Contribute to cross-industry initiatives that influence the regulatory dialogue.

• Cultivate and disseminate knowledge in emerging legal areas pertinent to Instacart’s operations.

• Evaluate new regulatory requirements and assist in shaping the regulatory dialogue.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

• Minimum of 3 years of legal practice experience.

• Proven capability to synthesize, analyze, and deliver precise legal counsel in response to legislative changes.

• Experience engaging with legislative bodies, government agencies, or regulatory issues.

• Track record of success in supporting compliance initiatives and implementing legal frameworks.

• Knowledge of legislative processes and the regulatory environment.

• Experience in legislative or regulatory strategy is preferred.

• Familiarity with challenges faced by marketplace platform companies, gig economy platforms, or similarly regulated businesses is preferred.
