This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Report directly to the Chief Medical Officer, serving as the primary clinical authority within NextGen Healthcare.
β’ Lead, mentor, and expand the Clinical Center of Excellence team comprising clinicians and healthcare professionals.
β’ Incorporate real-world workflow insights and evidence-based medicine throughout the product development process.
β’ Act as, or provide direct executive oversight to, the enterprise Patient Safety Officer and Chair of the Patient Safety Committee.
β’ Oversee the Critical Issue Dispositioning program for clinical risk triage, root cause analyses, risk containment, client communications, and remediation efforts.
β’ Embed evidence-based clinical insights into product roadmap planning, user-centered design, architecture, implementation, and commercialization.
β’ Assess emerging clinical methodologies, health IT standards, and advanced technologies such as ambient clinical intelligence and AI/ML clinical decision support.
β’ Create enterprise-wide patient safety standards, protocols, and foster a culture of clinical quality and risk reduction.
β’ Establish governance protocols, facilitate closed-loop feedback into engineering sprints, and ensure maintenance of audit trails.
β’ Keep abreast of clinical quality measures, regulatory frameworks including ONC HTI, HIPAA, digital health/SaMD, and patient safety reporting standards.
β’ Represent NextGen Healthcare before client C-suites, clinical advisory councils, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
β’ Collaborate with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Client Success, and R&D leaders to mitigate operational risks and achieve enterprise objectives.
β’ Perform additional duties that support the overall goals of the position.
β’ Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
β’ Over 10 years of progressive experience in active clinical practice and healthcare information technology (HIT) or digital health environments.
β’ More than 5 years in an executive or senior clinical leadership position within an EHR vendor, healthcare technology company, or large health system/ambulatory network.
β’ Proven success in building and leading multidisciplinary clinical teams.
β’ A solid track record of influencing software development life cycles, user experience, and clinical informatics strategy within ambulatory or enterprise EHR systems.
β’ Direct experience in leading or managing clinical risk governance programs, patient safety initiatives, clinical quality improvement, or cross-functional safety committees.
β’ Completion of a U.S. accredited residency program.
β’ Current, unrestricted, and active U.S. medical license in good standing.
β’ Current or previous Board Certification in a recognized medical specialty (ABMS or AOA).
β’ In-depth mastery of ambulatory care delivery, clinical workflows, and human-factors engineering.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of health IT regulatory standards, patient safety principles, and risk mitigation methodologies.
β’ Exceptional executive communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
β’ Proven leadership abilities in coaching, mentoring, and developing licensed medical professionals.
β’ Ability to address high-stakes, ambiguous safety or quality issues under pressure with transparency, decisiveness, and analytical rigor.
β’ Capability to drive cross-functional execution and maintain closed-loop accountability across distributed technical and clinical teams.
β’ Any combination of education and experience that would meet the necessary qualifications for the position.
β’ Maintenance of a limited active clinical practice is actively encouraged and supported, provided it does not conflict with executive responsibilities.
