Vice President of Campaigns

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the development, management, and execution of state and federal ballot measures, public education initiatives, and advocacy campaigns.

• Coordinate advocacy strategies across policy, lobbying, organizing, and elections departments.

• Act as a primary external contact and thought partner for LGBTQ+ movement partner organizations.

• Formulate a strategic ballot approach to address pressing state-level ballot measures impacting transgender individuals.

• Oversee, nurture, and motivate the Organizing Director and other key staff leaders.

• Facilitate the transition from mobilization tactics to more profound field organizing efforts.

• Supervise the engagement and training of transgender candidates, provide GOTV education, and enhance other electoral activities.

• Represent A4TE in state-focused ballot measure coalitions and leadership committees.

• Evaluate priority campaigns and suggest organizational priorities and resource allocation.

• Develop and execute campaign strategies while advising organizational partners.

• Coordinate A4TE’s cross-departmental campaign engagement and keep the team updated on developments.

• Collaborate with consultants, lobbyists, organizational partners, and local/state leaders to combat discriminatory anti-trans ballot measures.

• Manage, support, and ensure accountability of campaign consultants.

• Work together with Organizing, State Policy, and Communications teams.

• Travel to campaign sites as necessary.

• Organize the delivery of messaging and research to legislative leaders, partners, constituencies, and allies.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in a leadership capacity.

• Proven management experience, including coaching team members with effective management techniques, emotional intelligence, and sound judgment.

• Strong understanding of and a track record of success in lobbying governmental and agency entities at both state and federal levels.

• Familiarity with ethics and legal compliance in government affairs.

• Strategic acumen for advancing intricate government affairs strategies.

• Knowledge of 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), PAC, and ballot legal compliance.

• Ability to support organizational compliance initiatives in collaboration with experts, partners, and/or legal advisors.

• Capability to implement complex and legally compliant ballot campaign activities and tasks.

• Comprehensive understanding of politics within a broader advocacy context, including campaign cycles, partisanship, and the role of politics in shifting the Overton Window.

• Direct experience in social justice, government, organizing, and/or movement-building organizations.

• Profound and nuanced comprehension of issues affecting transgender individuals and intersecting systems of oppression.

• Strong belief in A4TE’s mission and dedication to advancing the Overton Window on transgender issues.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proficient in MS Office 365 and collaborative tools such as Slack, Asana, and Zoom.

• Familiarity with policy software like PolicyNote, BillTracker50, or similar tools.

• Experience with organizing and campaign tools such as NGP VAN, EveryAction, or equivalent.

• Willingness and ability to travel to states requiring field and campaign organizing support.
