Vice President – Strategic Initiatives

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Assist in the execution of LSAC's strategic priorities in collaboration with the leadership team.

• Provide counsel to the President regarding alignment, formulation, and prioritization of strategic initiatives.

• Facilitate the strategic planning process, including updates and modifications to the roadmap.

• Advise the President and the Board of Trustees on strategic opportunities, risks, risk management, and advancements in legal education and assessments.

• Convert the organizational vision into quantifiable strategic objectives and initiatives.

• Work with senior leaders to establish priorities, monitor progress, and modify prioritization as needed.

• Lead and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team.

• Create and oversee departmental budgets.

• Identify and assess new market opportunities, products, services, and business models.

• Propel mission-driven growth initiatives that support legal education.

• Evaluate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and collaborative opportunities; perform due diligence alongside Legal and Finance.

• Promote collaborative efforts within the legal education, higher education, and prelaw communities.

• Keep abreast of industry trends, new legislation, competitive activities, and market demands.

• Conduct market analyses and offer strategic recommendations.

• Develop frameworks to predict disruptions and leverage emerging opportunities.

• Integrate findings and trends from legal education research into strategic priorities.

• Lead organization-wide transformation and change initiatives through effective project management.

• Facilitate strategic projects aimed at enhancing organizational effectiveness and stakeholder value.

• Align strategic priorities with operational execution.

• Establish and track performance metrics linked to strategic objectives.

• Monitor progress against strategic plans and relay results internally and externally.

• Suggest adjustments based on performance outcomes and market conditions.

• Prepare strategic presentations and recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Trustees.

• Influence decision-making through data-driven insights and business analysis.

• Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team.

• Represent LSAC and its initiatives to external audiences as appropriate.

• Complete projects assigned by the President.

• Oversee the Business Intelligence and Initiatives, Applied Research, Legal Education Strategy, and Project Management teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is required.

• A J.D. degree is strongly preferred.

• At least eight (8) years of experience in strategy, consulting, higher education, operations, or related fields.

• A minimum of three (3) years in a management role leading teams.

• Experience in directing enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.

• Proven experience working directly with executive leadership, external boards, and stakeholders.

• Demonstrated success in developing, communicating, and executing growth strategies.

• Required familiarity with the goals, operations, and legal needs of academic institutions, especially law schools, or not-for-profit membership organizations.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into impactful work with measurable outcomes.

• Strong financial and business acumen.

• Capacity to exercise confidentiality and sound independent judgment.

• Ability to effectively relate to law school volunteers, legal educators, associations, and staff.

• Willingness and capacity to learn about accessibility best practices and standards.

• Flexibility to work the necessary hours to complete assignments satisfactorily.

• Up to 25% travel may be required.
