Vice President of Advanced Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Recruit, develop, and guide a global, multidisciplinary R&D and process engineering organization.

• Set objectives, KPIs, and career development plans for the advanced development team.

• Oversee advanced product and process engineering for next-generation connectors and ferrule technologies.

• Create technology roadmaps for alternative connector and ferrule technologies.

• Enhance organizational capabilities in multi-cavity precision molding, metrology, and scaled production.

• Formulate a perspective and roadmap for high-volume FAU manufacturing, alternative manufacturing techniques, and automated assembly.

• Align the advanced development roadmap with OCG product strategy and deliverables.

• Collaborate with Molex teams including Teramount, optoelectronics, silicon photonics, MEMS switching, and Med Tech.

• Engage with hyperscale and OEM customers to gather interconnect requirements and turn opportunities into design wins.

• Provide technical guidance during customer interactions and design reviews.

• Lead Molex’s involvement in industry ecosystems, MSA/standards groups, trade shows, and technical conferences.

• Develop and disseminate white papers and technical content.

• Drive cross-functional initiatives from technology concept to productization.

• Align engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and business objectives.

• Manage technology risks, IP strategy, and timelines for commercial product launches.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated leadership experience, typically over 12 years, in advanced development, product engineering, or manufacturing leadership roles.

• More than 5 years of experience managing global teams at senior, director, or VP levels.

• Extensive technical knowledge in fiber optic interconnects, connectors, and termination technologies for SMF, PMF, multi-core, and hollow-core fiber.

• Understanding of lensed, physical-contact, and fiber-to-chip interfaces.

• Practical experience with multi-cavity precision molding, metrology, assembly automation, and scaling to high-volume production.

• Proven track record working with hyperscale, cloud, or OEM customers and translating requirements into design wins.

• Experience in coordinating product, process, optoelectronics, silicon photonics, MEMS, and med-tech stakeholders.

• Technical degree (BS required; MS/PhD preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

• Exceptional communication skills and a proven presence in the industry.

• Capability to represent Molex at technical conferences and standards organizations.

• Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
