This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Deliver scientific and strategic guidance for tactical medical communications within designated therapeutic areas and products.
• Collaborate with Account Services, Creative Services, Editorial Services, Project Management, and clients to create both branded and unbranded medical and promotional communications.
• Represent the department in internal events that necessitate scientific input.
• Engage in the strategy and scientific/medical aspects of new business development.
• Act as a representative of the company in client meetings that require scientific expertise.
• Interact with clients, faculty, clinical experts, and patients to support pharmaceutical advertising and promotional efforts.
• Ensure compliance with internal workflows and processes for deliverable development.
• Collaborate with Project Management to forecast resource needs and create work plans.
• Stay updated on industry trends, medical literature, news sources, therapeutic areas, products, and competitors.
• Lead medical contributions and communications for client and product content development.
• Generate innovative initiatives that align with promotional and product strategies.
• Oversee and directly create clinical content for various formats including print, digital, presentations, advisory boards, speaker programs, webcasts, videos, websites, and multimedia projects.
• Clearly and appropriately communicate complex medical and scientific concepts to various audiences.
• Ensure the scientific integrity, accuracy, and clinical relevance of all materials produced.
• Review and analyze product literature and clinical data, including competitor comparisons.
• Take ultimate responsibility for the content, accuracy, audience suitability, storytelling, and strategy of assigned projects.
• Present and defend content and strategy to client review committees.
• Generate project ideas for both current and potential clients.
• Direct and support Medical Directors and Medical Writers.
• Develop project timelines in conjunction with Account Services and Project Management.
• Participate in professional meetings and congresses.
• Facilitate advisory board meetings and translate discussions into actionable strategies and tactics.
• Support healthcare professional and patient interviews for market research purposes.
• Represent Synchrony in internal functions, annual planning, and new business development activities.
• Assist in the organization of medical education events and activities.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration and build strong relationships with clients and clinical experts.
• Work together with senior management and multidisciplinary teams on communication strategies.
• PhD, PharmD, or MD required.
• At least 5 years of experience in a direct content development role within advertising, marketing communications, or medical communications.
• Significant experience in leading a minimum of 4 of the following: advertising campaigns, pharmaceutical product launches, promotional education activities, disease education campaigns, promotional medical/marketing initiatives, digital and interactive programs, advisory boards, and key clinical expert identification and development.
• Specific expertise in relevant industry or therapeutic areas.
• Willingness to travel as client needs dictate.
• Ability to work additional or nontraditional hours as needed by clients.
