Vice President – Government Affairs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Create and implement the organization's enterprise government affairs and public policy strategy across federal and state legislative and regulatory landscapes.

• Set policy priorities concerning health IT, EHR certification, artificial intelligence, ambient clinical intelligence, health data privacy, interoperability, information blocking, healthcare reimbursement, and similar topics.

• Anticipate upcoming policy changes and proactively devise strategies to shape outcomes.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships at the senior level with federal and state lawmakers, regulators, and government entities.

• Advocate for the company's interests during meetings, briefings, policy dialogues, and other government interactions.

• Oversee the organization's response to proposed legislation, regulations, guidance, and policy initiatives impacting healthcare technology and AI.

• Formulate policy positions and coordinate advocacy initiatives.

• Provide counsel to the CLO, C-suite executives, Product, Engineering, Clinical, Compliance, and other business leaders on legislative and regulatory updates.

• Convert policy developments into business implications, product specifications, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.

• Establish and nurture connections with healthcare, technology, AI, and digital health trade associations and coalitions.

• Represent the organization in industry policy initiatives and forge strategic alliances.

• Direct and oversee external lobbying firms, government affairs consultants, and policy advisors.

• Advise the CLO, executive leadership, and Board of Directors on political, legislative, and regulatory risks and opportunities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or Healthcare Policy.

• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, public affairs, or similar external affairs roles.

• Extensive experience in healthcare, health technology, AI, technology, or another highly regulated sector.

• Proven track record in developing and implementing federal and/or state government affairs strategies.

• Hands-on experience engaging directly with policymakers, regulators, and government stakeholders.

• Strong comprehension of healthcare technology policy, AI regulation, health information privacy, interoperability, health IT certification, and relevant federal and state legislative and regulatory frameworks.

• Experience representing an organization before government officials, industry associations, coalitions, or other external stakeholders.

• Background in managing external consultants, lobbying firms, government affairs advisors, or policy organizations.

• Outstanding strategic judgment, executive communication skills, policy analysis capabilities, relationship management, negotiation skills, advocacy, and the ability to influence without direct authority.

• A Master's degree or Juris Doctorate specializing in Healthcare or Tech Law is preferred.
