Vice President – Environmental Health & Safety

📋 Description

• Lead the implementation of Beacon Mobility’s enterprise EHS strategy throughout transportation operations.

• Build and utilize relationships with Operations, Fleet Maintenance, Human Resources, Risk Management, Legal, and senior leadership.

• Act as a senior subject matter expert in areas such as occupational safety, driver safety, crisis response, and regulatory affairs.

• Execute and enhance the enterprise EHS strategy in alignment with business priorities, growth objectives, and operational goals.

• Guide directors in promoting safety expectations, scalable processes, and continuous improvement.

• Provide counsel to operations leadership and the executive team regarding safety, health, and risk management.

• Collaborate with safety, operations, and personnel leaders to achieve measurable improvements in injury rates.

• Drive down vehicle incidents and workers’ compensation claims.

• Utilize analytical models to implement corrective actions and ensure sustained improvements.

• Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

• Supervise OSHA-related initiatives and injury-risk management programs.

• Collaborate on initiatives related to electrification, emissions reduction, and environmentally sustainable practices.

• Lead the response to serious accidents, injuries, environmental incidents, and other major events.

• Ensure the escalation, investigation, reporting, communication, and corrective action processes are in place.

• Maintain protocols for emergency preparedness, response, and business continuity planning.

• Support safety onboarding, necessary certifications, recurring training, and field coaching.

• Foster employee engagement, behavioral safety, recognition, and shared accountability.

• Equip leaders to effectively communicate and reinforce safety expectations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental management, engineering, industrial hygiene, risk management, business administration, or a related field; relevant experience may also be considered.

• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in EHS, safety, risk, or operational leadership, including senior leadership roles within a complex, multi-site organization.

• Demonstrated success in leading safety transformations, ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing incidents, and driving cultural change across geographically dispersed operations.

• Extensive knowledge of transportation safety, occupational safety, environmental compliance, fleet risk management, and crisis management.

• Exceptional executive communication abilities to influence operators, functional leaders, senior executives, regulators, and external partners.

• A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

• Preferred credentials include CSP, CIH, CHMM, ASP, or similar certifications.

• Preferred certifications include OSHA 30-hour General Industry training and advanced incident investigation training.
