Vice President, Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Establish and steer the strategy for engineering, maintenance, and facilities infrastructure in alignment with corporate objectives.

• Recognize technology and process investments that facilitate business expansion, scalability, and meet customer expectations.

• Take ownership of a prioritized multi-year engineering roadmap.

• Supervise facilities engineering, site layout, utility management, infrastructure enhancements, maintenance programs, reliability initiatives, and preventive/predictive maintenance strategies.

• Ensure that facilities and infrastructure comply with operational, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Manage the engineering capital expenditure budget, including forecasting and scenario analysis.

• Oversee facility expansions or strategic closures, new equipment installations, automation projects, ROI assessments, project timelines, and stakeholder communications.

• Lead cross-functional project teams to ensure engineering initiatives are completed on schedule and within budget.

• Promote continuous improvement in process design, quality assurance, production efficiency, and sustainability.

• Collaborate with Operations and Quality teams to minimize waste, downtime, and variability.

• Manage change initiatives related to process improvements and technology enhancements.

• Drive reliability initiatives to enhance equipment performance.

• Mentor and manage a diverse engineering team across process, packaging, facilities, and maintenance disciplines.

• Ensure the team's development, succession planning, and performance management are effectively executed.

• Collaborate with Commercial, R&D, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to launch products, address technical challenges, and enhance customer satisfaction.

• Ensure that engineering and maintenance activities comply with FDA, ISO, GMP, OSHA, safety, and environmental standards.

• Represent engineering, facilities infrastructure, and maintenance and reliability leadership in executive meetings, customer presentations, and board updates.

• Assess and adopt manufacturing technologies and systems, including smart manufacturing and flow to the customer.

• Develop and manage engineering budgets, timelines, and KPIs.

• Oversee third-party contractors, consultants, and vendors.

• Foster accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial) (Required).

• 15 years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior/executive role within the contract manufacturing, personal care, CPG, food, or pharmaceutical industry (Required).

• Demonstrated success in managing multi-site engineering operations and directing capital investment programs exceeding $10M (Required).

• Proven experience in leading and managing Facilities Engineering, as well as Maintenance and Reliability for infrastructure and manufacturing assets (Required).

• Capability to align engineering vision with corporate objectives and long-term growth strategies.

• Expertise in planning, budgeting, and executing large-scale capital projects in a manufacturing context.

• Comprehensive understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement tools, such as Kaizen, Gemba, Root Cause and Corrective Action, Problem Solving Techniques, and DMAIC.

• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing systems, equipment, automation, and packaging technologies.

• Ability to lead, coach, and inspire engineering teams across all levels.

• Proficiency in presenting to executives, managing stakeholders, and promoting cross-functional alignment.

• Familiarity with FDA, GMP, ISO, OSHA, EPA, and other pertinent regulations.
