Vice Chair, Freeda Committee – Voluntary

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the Chair in all activities to ensure the Committee's effective leadership.

• Facilitate decision-making processes and steer Freeda's strategic direction and governance.

• Assume the Chair's responsibilities in their absence.

• Aid in the coordination of Committee meetings, typically held six times a year.

• Collaborate with the Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer to ensure timely execution of agreed actions by the CEO and Committee members.

• Ensure close oversight of Freeda’s financial sustainability by the Committee.

• Support governance oversight and adherence to legal and statutory obligations under the Jersey Charities Commission, Jersey Care Commission, and Freeda’s Constitution.

• Work alongside the Chair, CEO, and Committee members to develop the annual strategic plan, organizational goals, and the annual Freeda report.

• Ensure that Freeda’s activities are in line with its mission and values.

• Cultivate and maintain a productive relationship with the Chair and CEO.

• Assist the Chair in preparing and submitting the annual Charity report to the Charity Commissioner.

• Act as a spokesperson for Freeda with partners, funders, and the community in the Chair's absence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Previous experience in leadership or management roles is desirable.

• Some experience in governance, management, and strategic oversight is beneficial.

• Familiarity with fundraising and partnership development within the Jersey context.

• Prior experience as a trustee or on a committee.

• Understanding of the causes and impacts of violence and abuse against women and girls.

• Strong understanding and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

• Solid knowledge of governance and financial management practices.

• Knowledge of the Jersey Care Commission and/or Social Services policies is an advantage.

• Commitment to upholding the mission and values of Freeda.

• Skills in leadership, management, coordination, and strategic thinking.

• Ability to analyze, solve problems, and lead others effectively.

• Demonstrated capacity for independent judgment.
