Venture Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and oversee high-risk, high-impact research initiatives in deep technology.

• Select, mentor, and direct multidisciplinary research teams.

• Simultaneously manage multiple project teams.

• Make decisions regarding funding initiatives (go / no-go).

• Collaborate with industry, government, and academic stakeholders both in Japan and globally.

• Design, implement, and lead research initiatives that tackle significant economic, societal, and environmental challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experienced technologist, researcher, or innovation leader.

• Over 10 years of experience in leading advanced research or deep-tech innovation across academia, industry, national laboratories, or startups.

• Possession of a PhD or equivalent technical experience.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to contract stipulations.

• Proven success in technology transition and stakeholder engagement.

• Familiarity with Japan is advantageous.

• Proficiency in the Japanese language is not necessary.
