This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and execute research initiatives to gain insights into how teams creating products on VA.gov and other internal users engage with VA.gov Platform products, services, tools, and processes.
• Perform user interviews, usability studies, contextual inquiries, workflow analyses, and other qualitative research techniques.
• Examine the comprehensive developer experience, focusing on how teams discover, adopt, utilize, troubleshoot, and seek support for Platform capabilities.
• Identify unmet needs, persistent challenges, barriers to adoption, and opportunities for enhancing Platform products and services.
• Assess current Platform capabilities along with proposed enhancements and new offerings.
• Create research plans, discussion guides, research inquiries, recruitment criteria, and study materials.
• Distill research findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
• Oversee the design, implementation, analysis, and reporting of the VA.gov Platform quarterly user satisfaction survey.
• Maintain a consistent measurement framework to monitor satisfaction and sentiment over time.
• Evaluate satisfaction across Platform products, services, and key components of the user experience.
• Analyze survey outcomes by relevant user groups, products, services, or experience areas to uncover meaningful trends.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, Analytics, Platform Support, and governmental stakeholders.
• Inform product strategy, roadmaps, and investment decisions with evidence-based research.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Required)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Over 5 years of experience as a UX Researcher
• Experience in user experience research for digital products, software platforms, developer tools, or enterprise technology
• Strong expertise in qualitative research methods, including interviews, usability testing, contextual inquiry, and thematic analysis
• Experience in designing, administering, and analyzing user satisfaction surveys
• Capability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into actionable product recommendations
• Ability to identify patterns and insights from substantial amounts of user feedback
• Experience in translating research findings into recommendations that shape product strategy and prioritization
• Solid understanding of human-centered design and user-centered product development
• Proven experience collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, and other technical stakeholders
• Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Ability to effectively communicate research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience in managing multiple research projects and stakeholder needs concurrently
• Must have reliable internet service that supports effective telecommuting
