Utility Scale Civil/Structural Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Assist in the progression of large-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across all design phases.

• Offer technical supervision, coordination, and assessment of civil and structural deliverables.

• Direct the civil and structural design development from initial design to Issued For Construction (IFC) and construction stages.

• Evaluate grading, stormwater management, foundation design, racking systems, and roadway designs.

• Act as a subject matter expert in civil and structural design and feasibility.

• Deliver technical support to internal teams, external engineering partners, and subcontracted engineers.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Preconstruction, Estimating, Procurement, and Operations departments.

• Conduct structured design evaluations at the 30%, 90%, and IFC milestones.

• Identify risks, deficiencies, and inconsistencies while driving towards resolution.

• Assess design choices for constructability, installation efficiency, and cost implications.

• Liaise with customers, developers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and external engineering firms.

• Assist in permitting and regulatory coordination.

• Provide technical assistance during construction and aid in resolving field issues.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field/experience.

• 1–2 years of experience in solar or power systems design.

• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and renewable energy standards.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PVCase, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Capability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation.

• Ability to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, and walk for extended periods.

• Willingness to work in hot, cold, or wet environments.

• Capacity to lift and transport up to 80 lbs.

• Competence to dig and back-fill trenches.

• Authorization to work within the United States.
