This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Educate, engage, and inspire the community to support NMDP’s mission through presentations, awareness events, celebrations, and recruitment activities for the registry.
• Develop and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, technical and vocational institutions, community organizations, corporations, and service-sector groups.
• Recruit dedicated individuals to join the NMDP registry, focusing on enhancing diversity by engaging with ethnically diverse communities.
• Plan and coordinate activities aimed at raising awareness, educating the public, and fostering commitment to the registry.
• Collaborate with marketing, volunteer services, the NMDP Foundation, account managers, and external network partners.
• Stay informed about HLA and blood stem cell transplantation to effectively educate target audiences.
• Collaborate with the regional team to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual enrollment goals for the registry.
• Establish and nurture relationships with community leaders, organizations, media outlets, businesses, and local contacts.
• Act as a liaison between NMDP and community partners; respond to leads and referrals.
• Deliver public speaking engagements and written communications to boost registry participation, volunteerism, and philanthropic contributions.
• Propose innovative community engagement strategies and recruitment practices for the registry.
• Develop annual engagement and recruitment strategy plans, as well as activity plans targeted at specific college campuses.
• Organize and facilitate both live and digital mission-focused events.
• Mobilize volunteers and sponsors to meet event objectives and communicate results to partners.
• Inform prospective volunteer donors about NMDP’s mission, the donation process, and registry expectations.
• Implement training programs and procedures for community engagement, education, and donor recruitment.
• Collaborate with Transplant Centers to identify patients and families interested in supporting NMDP.
• Assist patient families by assessing their needs and referring them to appropriate NMDP services.
• Identify patient and donor stories and collaborate with marketing and media departments.
• Participate in media events and represent NMDP in interviews.
• Support objectives related to donor recruitment, availability, and experience.
• Encourage financial contributions to the NMDP Foundation.
• Recruit, interview, screen, train, place, supervise, and retain volunteers.
• Track volunteer data and hours committed.
• Facilitate volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives.
• Travel regularly throughout Los Angeles County.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
• Equivalent experience and/or education related to the minimum experience requirement may be accepted in lieu of the degree.
• Two years of experience in sales, business or community development, client account management, event planning, and implementation with required defined goals or targets.
• Understanding of sales and marketing principles.
• Familiarity with volunteer management techniques.
• Knowledge of developing in-market strategies and generating leads.
• Experience in planning and executing events.
• Ability to navigate the systems of colleges and universities, including athletics, diverse affinity groups, student government, and Greek organizations.
• Capacity to network and build community partnerships within ethnically diverse populations.
• Effective use of social media platforms.
• Ability to utilize digital marketing strategies for recruitment purposes.
• Proficient in interacting with and influencing others.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Strong public speaking and presentation capabilities.
• Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Self-motivated and driven by goals.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce, and internet navigation.
• Willingness to travel within the region as needed (25%–50%), work evenings and weekends, and undertake occasional national travel (3–4 trips per year).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation suitable for carrying event materials.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in the field.
• Bilingual language skills may be required based on location.
