This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +26 more states.
• Design and implement management monitoring reports for financial performance, membership, contract, and fulfillment production.
• Oversee underwriting, pricing, and contracting activities to ensure suitable rates and policy provisions.
• Direct underwriting processes to achieve or surpass turnaround objectives.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise high-caliber underwriting teams.
• Oversee the performance appraisal process.
• Manage budgets for designated cost centers.
• Act as the primary Premera liaison for underwriting policy information.
• Assist sales and account management teams during presentations and negotiations.
• Develop and sustain pricing data and contract generation systems.
• Aid senior management in maintaining policies and procedures, as well as formulating work-unit strategies.
• Monitor and assess internal data for accuracy, pinpoint issues, and devise solutions.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field, or 4 years of relevant work experience.
• 5 years of experience in underwriting, regulatory affairs, or health insurance consulting.
• Previous experience in underwriting is essential.
• Proven ability to lead in intricate business cases and/or projects.
• Extensive knowledge of the health insurance sector and the group administration and/or underwriting functions within an insurance carrier context.
• Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities.
• Skill in assessing market conditions and suggesting enhancements for contracts and underwriting.
• Capacity to meet essential physical requirements with or without accommodation, including sedentary work and the ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force.
• Proficiency in keyboarding and clear communication, both in person and over the phone.
