This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
β’ Assist Underwriters during both new business and renewal processes by organizing necessary documents, pinpointing missing information, preparing files for review, and tracking outstanding requirements.
β’ Utilize a solid understanding of Commercial Auto, Commercial General Liability, and Excess Liability coverage when evaluating submissions, preparing account materials, and addressing internal inquiries.
β’ Analyze loss runs to determine loss frequency, severity, trends, open claims, and other issues that need further underwriting assessment.
β’ Compile underwriting summaries, account worksheets, exposure analyses, and additional materials that support underwriting evaluation and decision-making.
β’ Process underwriting documents and take appropriate actions within the established authority, guidelines, and procedures.
β’ Act as a liaison between Underwriters and other Oxford departments to provide necessary underwriting information for binding, issuing, endorsing, renewing, or canceling accounts, as well as addressing certificates, inspections, and other account-related matters.
β’ Draft correspondence related to accounts and communicate with internal business partners, brokers, or other parties as directed by the Underwriter.
β’ Monitor account activities and follow up on outstanding underwriting information, subjectivities, inspections, recommendations, and other requirements.
β’ Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and well-organized underwriting files in accordance with departmental standards and documentation requirements.
β’ Assist in the evaluation and servicing of Commercial Casualty and Enterprise Risk Management accounts.
β’ Bachelorβs degree or one to three years of relevant Property and Casualty insurance experience; a combination of education, training, and industry experience may also be considered.
β’ Preferred familiarity with Commercial Auto, Commercial General Liability, and Excess Liability coverage.
β’ Capacity to review and interpret commercial insurance policies, applications, endorsements, exposure information, and loss runs.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
β’ Capability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and produce accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
β’ Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to keeping complete and accurate underwriting documentation.
β’ Customer-service oriented mindset with the ability to communicate promptly, professionally, and effectively with Underwriters, internal departments, brokers, clients, and other business partners.
β’ Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills.
β’ Ability to balance internal service standards with broker and client expectations while appropriately escalating issues that require underwriting judgment or authority.
β’ Competence to work both independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgment within established guidelines and seeking direction when necessary.
β’ Proven initiative, reliability, accountability, and dedication to meeting established deadlines and work-quality standards.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel, along with the ability to learn underwriting and policy management systems.
β’ Capability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
β’ Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and progressively develop technical knowledge and responsibilities over time.
