This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide expert analysis and supervision on intricate and escalated cases
• Ensure alignment with underwriting standards and mortality goals
• Manage facultative referrals when necessary
• Supervise complex case adjudication during high-demand periods
• Lead and cultivate a team of underwriters, establish daily priorities, and ensure adherence to service levels, consistency, and quality
• Utilize analytics dashboards to monitor mortality, placement, cycle time, and referral rates
• Implement targeted enhancements in underwriting practices
• Pilot and assess new underwriting technologies and vendor solutions
• Document business cases and evaluate outcomes
• Mentor, develop, and enhance underwriters' skills in analytical reasoning, digital tools, and customer-focused practices
• Negotiate appeals and make decisions on formal change requests to previous underwriting judgments
• Communicate with field force and home office personnel to gather information, resolve issues, and convey decisions
• Extensive expertise in life underwriting, including the authority to adjudicate complex, high-value cases and provide guidance on escalated decisions
• At least 5 years of experience in life underwriting
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage intricate case decisions
• Proficient understanding of automated underwriting platforms and programs, including Random Holdouts (RHO) and Post-Issue Audits (PIA)
• Experience in quality control management
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with reinsurers and vendors
• Capacity to nurture a collaborative team environment and coach underwriters to enhance digital fluency and adopt new tools and workflows
• Commitment to ethical decision-making, regulatory compliance, and sustainable practices
• Experience with advanced analytics and visualization tools (preferred)
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) data, GenAI-enabled tools, and behavioral economics concepts (preferred)
