This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Underwrite both new and renewal business by assessing risk, establishing terms and conditions, and making decisions within assigned authority limits.
• Oversee the underwriting process throughout its entire lifecycle, including handling submissions, binding, policy servicing, and documentation in line with company and regulatory standards.
• Track production metrics such as retention, risk distribution, and underwriting performance to enhance portfolio quality and predictability.
• Evaluate and address underwriting challenges, including inspection results, servicing requests, and coverage modifications to ensure risk accuracy.
• Work collaboratively with producers, agents, and internal teams to facilitate timely communication and effective implementation of underwriting decisions.
• Provide leadership and coordination among underwriting teams, ensuring consistency, communication, and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Guide and assist in the development of junior underwriters by offering technical support and sharing knowledge.
• Bachelor’s degree or a relevant insurance designation is preferred.
• Experience in underwriting, specifically in multi-line or specialty insurance products.
• Proven ability to manage complex accounts and contribute positively to underwriting performance outcomes.
• Experience in providing mentorship or guidance in a team setting is preferred.
• A valid state-specific insurance license is required.
• Professional designations such as CPCU, CIC, or equivalent may be advantageous.
• Strong capabilities in underwriting analysis and risk assessment.
• Familiarity with underwriting guidelines, rating methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to comprehend policies, contracts, and coverage structures.
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills with producers and internal teams.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities in complex underwriting situations.
• Leadership skills to guide and support team members while promoting consistent execution.
• Fluency in the English language is required.
