Underwriting Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate risks associated with title insurance, underwriting challenges, and regulatory matters.

• Offer underwriting solutions to agents, the sales team, and title examiners, adhering to Westcor's guidelines as well as local, state, and federal regulations.

• Manage underwriting for residential and limited commercial transactions.

• Conduct training seminars for title agents and production personnel both online and in person.

• Deliver exceptional customer service while making informed underwriting decisions.

• Address a high volume of underwriting inquiries via email and phone promptly, professionally, and responsively.

• Assess and respond to indemnity requests.

• Accompany sales personnel on agent visits across the state.

• Collaborate effectively in a remote team setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

• At least 3 years of experience focused on Florida real property and title insurance.

• Must hold membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.

• Comprehensive understanding of Florida real property law and its relevance to real property transactions.

• Familiarity with the Florida title insurance sector.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Strong relationship-building abilities.

• Effective problem-solving skills.

• Proficient decision-making capabilities.

• Solid grasp of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures related to the real estate title and settlement process.

• Capability to manage underwriting for residential and limited commercial transactions.

• Ability to provide underwriting solutions compliant with company guidelines and local, state, and federal laws.

• Competence in working within a remote team environment.

• Willingness to travel with sales personnel for agent visits throughout the state.
