Underwriting Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate title insurance risks, underwriting challenges, and regulatory matters

• Offer underwriting solutions to agents, the sales team, and title examiners in line with Westcor company policies and applicable local, state, and federal laws

• Manage underwriting for residential and limited commercial transactions

• Conduct training seminars to educate title agents and production teams, both virtually and in-person

• Deliver exceptional customer service while making prudent underwriting decisions

• Address a high volume of underwriting inquiries via email and phone promptly, responsively, and professionally

• Assess and reply to indemnity requests

• Accompany sales staff for agent visits across the state

• Collaborate effectively in a remote team setting

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

• At least 3 years of experience focused on Florida real property and title insurance

• Must maintain good standing as a member of the Florida Bar

• Comprehensive understanding of Florida real property law and relevant areas concerning real property transactions

• Familiarity with the Florida title insurance sector

• Outstanding oral and written communication abilities

• Skills in relationship building

• Strong problem-solving capabilities

• Effective decision-making skills

• Solid grasp of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in the real estate title and settlement process

• Willingness to travel with sales staff for agent visits statewide

• Capability to thrive in a remote team environment
