
Traveling Construction Materials Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +4 more states.
• Conduct field testing, observations, and inspections of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
• Contribute to transportation, commercial building, wind farm, and various other construction projects.
• Liaise with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders concerning site requirements and testing outcomes.
• Transport material samples along with identifying documentation to laboratories for additional testing and analysis.
• Compile, prepare, and submit both written and digital reports for daily transmission to the Terracon Project Manager.
• Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
• Assist in the scheduling and dispatching of technicians to project sites.
• Execute tasks and basic testing duties under close supervision.
• Record findings and results, and communicate data accuracy to the Project Manager.
• Uphold assigned equipment and quality standards.
• Adhere to safety regulations, conduct pre-task planning, and report any safety concerns.
• Gradually take on increased training and responsibilities.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• A minimum of 6 months of experience is necessary.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% and for extended periods without the option to return home.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including overtime, weekends, and extended shifts as dictated by project demands.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.
• Must obtain ACI certification within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications is required.
• Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire is preferred.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Capacity to collaborate across geographic locations and diverse work environments.
• Ability to adjust to changing project environments, jobsite conditions, and diverse team structures.
• Strong safety mindset with the ability to identify site-specific hazards and assess changing field conditions.
