This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Act as the technical leader for the Vancouver Island Transportation Engineering team
• Offer practical advice on intricate transportation engineering tasks
• Oversee transportation impact assessments and complex transportation engineering projects, including scope, client communication, technical direction, schedule, and budget
• Develop and uphold technical standards, design guidance, templates, workflows, and quality assurance practices
• Create technical reports and deliver constructive reviews
• Utilize working knowledge of Synchro and VISTRO to guide conceptual or functional design decisions
• Foster and maintain relationships with municipal, provincial, agency, and private-sector clients across Vancouver Island
• Drive local business development by identifying opportunities, shaping pursuit strategies, and supporting proposals, scopes, fees, and resource allocation
• Serve as an escalation point for client issues and project delivery challenges
• Convert technical findings into actionable recommendations that aid municipal decision-making and implementation
• Lead, mentor, and coach team members
• Organize workload and resources in collaboration with Transportation Engineering Managers and the Practice Lead
• Assist in recruitment, onboarding, training, and career development
• Provide insights into team performance, risks, and opportunities while collaborating on strategic initiatives and major pursuits
• Establish trusted technical leadership, enhance client relationships, secure new projects, expand team capabilities, and support staff development
• Registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), or eligibility for registration in British Columbia
• A minimum of eight years of transportation engineering experience encompassing transportation planning, traffic operations, and municipal infrastructure projects
• Proven track record in leading teams, managing projects, and ensuring technical quality and project delivery
• In-depth knowledge of British Columbia municipal standards, policies, approval processes, stakeholder engagement, and the local political landscape
• Proven ability to build client relationships, prepare proposals, identify opportunities, and secure new projects
• Proficiency in using Synchro and VISTRO
• Experience in site and roadway design, conceptual or functional design, and CAD skills
• Excellent communication skills, sound professional judgment, and a commitment to mentoring and developing others
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Vancouver Island and neighboring regions
