This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and uphold engineering standards for hardware and panel design, network architecture, software templating, and documentation within the division.
• Take ownership of the technical execution model for DDC/Niagara BAS and PLC/SCADA EPMS scopes.
• Provide senior engineering leadership on innovative programs, including direct hyperscaler scopes and liquid cooling control systems.
• Conduct technical evaluations at design and pre-commissioning phases.
• Engage hands-on in high-risk projects as necessary.
• Recruit, delegate, and nurture engineering personnel, comprising Systems Engineers, System Integrators, SCADA Engineers, OT Network Engineers, and MSI Platform Engineers.
• Co-manage the MCSI Academy by establishing curricula, certifying trainee readiness, and determining scope eligibility.
• Represent Upchurch engineering during hyperscaler capability assessments, basis-of-design workshops, and vendor qualification reviews.
• Assist in estimating and business development efforts with a focus on technical strategy.
• Build and lead the engineering and integration organization from inception.
• Author the division's technical standards library and act as the technical authority for hyperscaler clients.
• A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, or 8+ years of hands-on leadership in controls as a substitute.
• Over 10 years of experience in BAS/EPMS/DDC/PLC controls engineering.
• Proven leadership experience on large-scale, mission-critical, or hyperscale data center initiatives.
• In-depth knowledge of DDC and Niagara-based systems.
• Advanced expertise in PLC platforms, including Allen-Bradley and Schneider.
• Profound understanding of SCADA systems, including Ignition or similar platforms.
• Extensive knowledge of EPMS integration.
• Expertise in industrial panel design.
• Proficient understanding of OT protocols: BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, MQTT, and OPC-UA.
• Knowledge of controls networking and IT/OT security.
• Familiarity with mission-critical HVAC systems, including chilled-water plants, heat rejection, and liquid cooling.
• Experience in leading engineering teams, maintaining technical standards, and implementing QA/QC processes.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong client-facing communication skills at the engineering leadership level.
• Direct experience with AWS/hyperscaler controls programs.
• Possession of a PE license or equivalent.
• Experience in establishing an engineering department or standards program from the ground up.
• Capability to work remotely from the United States.
• Willingness to travel up to 15%.
• Availability for extended hours during critical startup, testing, and commissioning periods.
