This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +14 more states.
• Take charge of and guide transmission line project designs as an authority in the field.
• Facilitate project discussions with both clients and internal teams.
• Offer strategic insights to the leadership team.
• Create designs for transmission line segments utilizing PLS-CADD or other structural design software.
• Generate design criteria documents and detailed construction specifications.
• Assemble construction packages that include structure details, material lists, staking tables, plan and profiles, and stringing charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, labor, and materials, while setting deadlines.
• Draft, amend, and evaluate specifications to ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and NEC standards.
• Conduct feasibility studies, routing assessments, and EMF calculations.
• Supervise project execution and confirm the installation of foundations, structures, and equipment.
• Lead or assist in preparing proposals and pursuing business development opportunities.
• Travel to client locations during the project definition and execution stages.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in transmission line design.
• Extensive knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards related to transmission line design.
• High level of proficiency in PLS-CADD.
• Experience in electrical utility or utility consulting is highly desirable.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication abilities.
• Familiarity with RISA-3D and/or STAAD for structural analysis and design is preferred.
• Functional knowledge of AISC, ACI 318, ASCE 7, ASCE 10, ASCE 48, EIA-TIA 222, CSA, and GO95 is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
