Training Specialist – Underwriting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Support team members in comprehending and showcasing the skills necessary for underwriting responsibilities.

• Develop, implement, and oversee learning and development strategies and programs tailored for Underwriting personnel.

• Craft engaging, up-to-date courses and training materials.

• Facilitate live instructor-led training sessions for both new and seasoned Underwriting staff.

• Assess trainee advancement and performance.

• Organize and prepare course outlines, materials, and educational aids.

• Evaluate existing procedures, tools, and manuals.

• Stay informed about training methodologies and advancements in the insurance sector.

• Review and update training content as necessary.

• Collaborate with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify training requirements and learning goals.

• Utilize adult learning principles, instructional design theories, learning tools, industry resources, and evaluation methods.

• Conduct underwriting training sessions that may vary in duration from one day to several weeks.

• Establish instructional goals and choose delivery methods that cater to adult learning preferences.

• Create engaging learning experiences through the use of case studies, narratives, small group activities, and reinforcement strategies.

• Evaluate and analyze trainee progress via interaction and work-product audits.

• Relay observations to leadership.

• Champion the training and information needs of employees.

• Develop online training materials, courses, and tools through e-learning and other software platforms.

• Ensure full-time attendance of at least 8 hours and 40 hours per week.

• Execute other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) is required.

• At least 4 years of underwriting experience, or 2 years as a Senior Underwriter, or a suitable mix of education and experience is preferred.

• In-depth understanding of insurance principles, terminology, products, and practices.

• Comprehensive knowledge of established company and departmental policies and procedures.

• Familiarity with various training methodologies such as self-study, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role-play, and computer-based learning.

• Experience in developing training content and delivering web-based training programs.

• Proven facilitation skills in both small and large group environments.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with a keen attention to detail.

• Capability to manage multiple projects or assignments within specified timelines.

• Strong organizational skills and the initiative to prioritize training needs and curriculum effectively.

• Ability to define program objectives, goals, and performance standards, and to assess employee progress and performance.

• Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting course data and feedback to create effective training courses and materials.

• Demonstrated analytical capabilities and enthusiasm for new technologies.

• Innovative and creative problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work autonomously.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
