This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Conduct research, develop, review, update, and maintain technical manuals, user/operator guides, training materials, and related documentation.
• Create, revise, and sustain technical manuals, operator manuals, user guides, quick-reference guides, job aids, and training documentation.
• Design, organize, and maintain practical exercises, assessments, student handouts, background materials, instructional aids, and training tools.
• Review engineering documentation, system specifications, manufacturer manuals, software documentation, test reports, and other technical source materials.
• Translate complex technical procedures into clear, sequential, task-oriented instructions.
• Develop and update task-based training materials, which include performance steps, conditions, standards, troubleshooting procedures, system configuration procedures, and operator tasks.
• Integrate engineering change proposals, software updates, hardware modifications, configuration changes, lessons learned, and field feedback into technical documentation.
• Assist in the development of IMI products.
• Conduct quality-control reviews to ensure technical accuracy, grammar, terminology, formatting, consistency, and usability.
• Participate in equipment demonstrations, technical interchange meetings, training events, and field exercises.
• Maintain a working knowledge of assigned communication systems, software applications, network architectures, and associated support equipment.
• Collaborate with Training Developers and Team Leads to ensure technical documentation aligns with training strategies and mission requirements.
• Support the validation, verification, and development of the Logistics Demonstration process for technical publications.
• Aid in the development of documentation for Contract Deliverable Requirements Lists (CDRLs).
• Identify learning strategies necessary to meet customer learning needs.
• Assist with training needs analysis, implementation planning, sustainment, and validation/verification activities.
• Engage with government personnel to identify necessary activities, facilitate collaborative planning, review deliverables, and resolve issues.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree or 12-15 years of relevant prior experience.
• Proven experience in developing technical manuals, user guides, training documentation, or other technical publications.
• Experience in interpreting and documenting complex technical systems, equipment, software, or communication processes.
• Capability to work effectively with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and extract accurate information from highly technical discussions and source documentation.
• Strong skills in technical writing, editing, proofreading, and documentation.
• Ability to create task-oriented, step-by-step procedures.
• Keen attention to detail and the capacity to identify technical inconsistencies or missing information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and/or Visio.
• Competence in managing multiple documentation projects, revisions, and competing deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with government and contractor personnel.
• Must be willing to travel at least 40% of the year.
• Experience supporting U.S. Army C5ISR, tactical communications, networking, or Command and Control systems.
• Familiarity with Army technical publications and documentation processes.
• Previous experience as a Training Developer, Technical Writer, Instructor, Maintainer, Communications Specialist, or SME.
• Experience in developing or revising Army Technical Manuals (TMs) and related training products.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD, Army publication standards, configuration management, and technical data management.
• Experience working with software-intensive systems and documenting procedures related to software updates and configuration changes.
• Ability to regularly sit, walk, and/or stand throughout various times during the day.
• Capacity to repetitively use hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office and maintenance power equipment.
