This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Offer assistance to a prominent client facing an immediate requirement for expert U.S. customs counsel.
• Effectively handle intricate customs issues, which encompass advisory services, investigations, enforcement, tariff matters, and trade remedies.
• Deliver thorough legal guidance on U.S. customs matters, addressing topics such as IEEPA, duty refunds, Foreign-Trade Zones, UFLPA, USMCA, country-of-origin, First Sale, valuation, and classification challenges.
• Oversee customs investigations, enforcement actions, prior disclosures, internal risk evaluations, Post-Summary Corrections, protests, and issues before CBP and other pertinent agencies.
• Counsel on tariff-related matters, including Section 232, while supporting tariff initiatives and ongoing customs concerns.
• Assist with trade remedies and related issues, including AD/CVD and appeals, along with AI export-control matters.
• Partner with key stakeholders to pinpoint customs risks and offer practical, strategic legal advice.
• Significant, hands-on experience in the practice of U.S. customs law and the independent management of complex customs issues.
• A focus on substantive customs law practice rather than experience predominantly centered on operational customs compliance, export controls, or general trade compliance.
• Extensive experience with customs investigations and enforcement, valuation and country-of-origin challenges, tariffs, protests, and related customs issues.
• Experience in advising on matters before U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other relevant agencies.
• Juris Doctor degree or its equivalent.
• Licensed to practice law in an appropriate jurisdiction.
• Preferred: Experience with trade remedy issues, including AD/CVD and related appeals or legal proceedings.
• Preferred: Background in IEEPA, UFLPA, USMCA, Section 232, First Sale, Foreign-Trade Zones, prior disclosures, and Post-Summary Corrections.
