This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Identify, cultivate, and enhance agency relationships within the designated territory through face-to-face meetings, virtual interactions, phone communications, and email correspondence.
• Present sales pitches to potential agencies and their principals.
• Evaluate agency performance metrics, including revenue, profitability, and production figures to uncover opportunities and drive success.
• Offer agency owners insights into performance, strategic business development plans, and suggestions for profitable growth.
• Collaborate with management to formulate territory and state strategies.
• Establish and nurture relationships with agency partners and internal stakeholders.
• Educate and train agents on underwriting guidelines, procedures, products, programs, website functionalities, and web rating tools.
• Assist agency partners in understanding Heritage resources and aligning with profitability goals.
• Keep track of market trends and competitive analyses while recommending strategic initiatives.
• Conduct visits to agencies and maintain comprehensive documentation of relationships and activities.
• Oversee assigned agencies, which includes managing appointments, documentation, call reports, performance updates, and terminations when necessary.
• Relay agent feedback, product opportunities, and market demands to internal teams.
• Represent Heritage at agency gatherings, industry conferences, trade exhibitions, and conventions.
• Engage in sales meetings, training sessions, and company initiatives.
• Travel extensively throughout Northern California, including frequent overnight stays.
• Occasionally travel to Tampa and other locations for training, conventions, and corporate events.
• Maintain effective communication with colleagues, management, clients, vendors, and agency partners.
• Conduct business in compliance with relevant regulations and Heritage policies.
• Undertake additional assigned responsibilities.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• At least 3 years of experience in territory management or a related sales role.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred qualifications include a P&C insurance license, industry designations, and/or prior experience in an insurance agency.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with common business technologies.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
• Capability to independently manage a territory while consistently achieving results.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Northern California and occasionally to Tampa, Florida.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check is required.
