Technology Strategist, Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Evaluate clients' existing technology landscapes, capabilities, and priorities.

• Formulate technology strategies and multi-year roadmaps.

• Analyze legacy systems, enterprise applications, infrastructure, and technology dependencies.

• Discover opportunities for modernization, optimization, and operational enhancements.

• Offer strategic technology guidance to executive leadership and other authorized stakeholders.

• Create executive briefings, strategic recommendations, technology assessments, and reports related to risk.

• Develop and support strategies for digital transformation, modernization, implementation, and transition.

• Evaluate opportunities related to cloud, hybrid solutions, automation, analytics, and emerging technologies.

• Assess security, privacy, data governance, and operational risks associated with technology.

• Create assessments of technology risks and propose mitigation strategies.

• Review enterprise systems and technology solutions based on documented client requirements.

• Assist in vendor evaluation, technology selection, RFP, and procurement processes as specified in the Work Order.

• Assess technology investments, costs, resource needs, and implementation factors.

• Serve as a liaison among leadership, technical teams, and operational stakeholders.

• Independently organize and manage advisory projects.

• Utilize Matrix's online project management and collaboration platform.

• Maintain project documentation and provide regular status updates and deliverables as agreed.

• Attend client locations for executive meetings, assessments, workshops, stakeholder engagement, or implementation planning as necessary.

• Uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion at client locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–15+ years of pertinent experience in technology strategy, IT consulting, technology leadership, enterprise architecture, or digital transformation.

• Proven experience advising organizations on technology strategy or significant technology initiatives.

• Strong comprehension of technology infrastructure, cloud environments, enterprise systems, and cybersecurity.

• Experience in evaluating complex technology environments and formulating practical strategic recommendations.

• Robust understanding of technology governance, data management, privacy, and information security considerations.

• Capability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to both executive and non-technical audiences.

• Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving abilities.

• Demonstrated capacity to manage advisory engagements independently.

• High degree of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.

• Ability to operate an independent professional practice and offer services on a project basis.

• Willingness and ability to travel to client locations when required by an assignment.

• Experience supporting law firms, healthcare organizations, government agencies, courts, financial institutions, professional services, or other high-confidentiality environments is advantageous.

• Experience across various industries or jurisdictions is particularly valuable.

• Familiarity with enterprise architecture, cloud strategy, AWS, Microsoft Azure, cybersecurity, information governance, data governance, privacy, data protection, enterprise applications, artificial intelligence, automation, systems integration, digital transformation, business-process modernization, document and records management, technology risk management, or technology procurement and vendor evaluation is a plus.

• Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, ITIL, AWS certifications, Microsoft certifications, enterprise architecture certifications, or cybersecurity credentials are beneficial but not mandatory if equivalent professional experience can be demonstrated.

• Ability to independently manage projects and select suitable methodologies, tools, and processes.

• Professional capabilities, equipment, technology, transportation, and other resources necessary for performing assignments.

• Responsibility for applicable taxes, government remittances, insurance, business expenses, and other independent business obligations.
