CTO – AI and Business Unit Leadership

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the CEO to establish the technological direction and oversee a business unit.

• Take ownership of business unit priorities, execution, and results.

• Work alongside product and commercial teams to align customer demand with investment decisions and delivery.

• Transform AI, LLMs, and automation into practical product and engineering capabilities.

• Determine success metrics and transition promising AI initiatives into production.

• Assess AI initiatives based on quality, reliability, cost, and customer value.

• Lead Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, infrastructure leaders, and Data Science teams.

• Establish priorities, delegate decision-making authority, cultivate leaders, and ensure accountability for delivery and results.

• Develop high-throughput, real-time infrastructure to support growth.

• Balance experimentation with resilience, security, and operational discipline.

• Collaborate directly with the technical CEO/founder to challenge concepts, make decisions, and implement strategy.

• Solid engineering or architecture background.

• Capability to challenge design choices alongside senior engineers.

• Ability to link technical decisions with product priorities and long-term business objectives.

• Commercial acumen and readiness to manage a business unit in conjunction with a technology organization.

• Proficient in understanding customer requirements, making clear trade-offs, and taking accountability for business outcomes.

• Practical experience in building with AI tools and workflows.

• Competence in evaluating the value, limitations, and responsible deployment requirements of AI.

• Experience in leading engineering organizations through managers and leads.

• Proven track record in building strong teams and promoting autonomy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
